Terms & Conditions

National Walk for Truth – Conditions of Participation

In signing up to participate in the National Walk for Truth, I acknowledge that:

I am sufficiently fit, in good general health, and am adequately prepared, to participate in this event. I will withdraw if I have any injury or illness from which I have not fully recovered by the time of the event.

The course of the National Walk for Truth traverses regional and urban areas including roads, paths, beach trails, offroad tracks and trails of differing quality, with uneven, slippery and possibly unstable terrain. Whilst the Mirta Group Pty Ltd is undertaking some limited due diligence, and implementing some basic signage in respect of the sections which members of the public are being invited to join, conditions will vary, with relevant hazards including (but not limited to):

  • the risk of slips and falls on uneven ground;
  • the risk of injury from other hazards (fences, tree branches, interactions with other participants);
  • the strenuous nature of walking the relevant sections of the route;
  • the risk of interactions with vehicular traffic and/or members of the public and/or third party activities along the route of the walk;
  • adverse and/or changing weather conditions and associated human health risks (including hypothermia and heat exhaustion);
  • remoteness from medical assistance (save for basic first aid support, to be provided by Mirta Group Pty Ltd);
  • walking on isolated and remote tracks (potentially with limited phone reception in sections).

I will need to make my own safe transportation and any necessary accommodation arrangements adjacent to the commencement point and end point of the section(s) of the National Walk for Truth that I am participating in.

I agree that:

I will review the weather forecast ahead of my participation in the walk and ensure that I am equipped with clothing, footwear and other supplies appropriate for the conditions and necessary to maintain my healthy participation (e.g. snacks, water, medication, sunscreen, hat, raincoat, change of socks or shoes).

I will follow the instructions of the Mirta Group Pty Ltd staff and other officials supporting the National Walk for Truth.

Mirta Group Pty Ltd staff and other officials supporting the National Walk for Truth may:

  • notify changes to the course (including possibly the deferment, cancellation or shortening of sections), including at short notice due to conditions and/or operational considerations;
  • request that I leave the walking party if I am causing a disruption or my conduct is giving rise to safety or other risks, or undermining the walk's purposes.

By participating in the National Walk for Truth in public spaces, I acknowledge that I may be, and consent to being, depicted in related social media photos and videos, unless (in the case of Mirta Group Pty Ltd generated content) I notify Mirta Group Pty Ltd staff expressly to the contrary on the day(s) of my participation.

I am voluntarily participating in the National Walk for Truth, in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, and at my own risk, with Mirta Group Pty Ltd and its officers, representatives and agents (and any person directly or indirectly involved in organising the National Walk for Truth):

  • not responsible for any injury, illness or death, or any damage or loss, which may result from my participation in the National Walk for Truth;
  • indemnified and released by me from all related claims and liabilities.
